Welcome to West Lancs HomeFinder, the new way to find and rent a home from West Lancashire Borough Council and Accredited Private Landlords.
We aim to give you more choice in deciding where you want to live. Properties that are available for rent will be advertised each week.
To respond to changes in the law, from 1st July 2013, the Council is changing it's Allocations Policy and the types of tenancy it offers. To find out more visit the New Allocations Policy page.
If you want to apply to rent a home from the Council using HomeFinder, you need to be on the housing register. If you are on the housing register you will automatically be registered for HomeFinder.
You can get started straight away.
If you are not on the housing register, you first need to apply to join by completing an application form.

Mutual Exchanges - Homeswapper is a web-based service, aimed at helping tenants to find another tenant to swap with. This service is free to all West Lancashire Borough Council Tenants. Visit HomeSwapper (external link) for information on social housing swaps.
Downsizing - To make best use of the council’s housing stock and assist it's tenants adversely affected by the new social size criteria, the Council is offering financial help to council tenants living in family houses, who wish to move to smaller homes. To find out if you may be eligible read the Tenant Downsizing Scheme.
From 1 April 2013, the way in which Housing Benefit is calculated has changed. New rules take into account how many bedrooms you need, compared to how many bedrooms the property has. If you qualify for Housing Benefit it important that you consider these changes when deciding which properties to bid for. For more information download Welfare Reform Leaflet.
